Tin Toy Bus Description, Bus Collector Value ($US) and Notes...

This is a beautiful vintage batery operated tin litho toy from around the 1950s. It's of an RCA Victor TV Camera truck / bus complete with a rotating cameraman on the roof and a TV screen on on one side. It has colorful markings for NBC Television, the NBC Peacock logo, RCA's Nipper the dog - His Master's Voice Victrola and in the rear it reads, "Symbol of RCA Victor Compatible Color TV." The destination sign on the front reads, "NBC." Although I don't see any markngs, it appears to be a Japanese made tin vehicle.

It operates on 2 D cell batteries, which allows the vehicle to move and also lights up and operates the TV screen and the cameraman on top. In addition to the battery door, the rear of the truck has control levers for movement and to turn on the TV screen. The front wheels have a lever underneath the truck to change direction of travel.

Hi guys,
I have this exact toy bus, but it's not complete as it's missing the entire camerman and camera on top.
It is from the early 1950's and it was rather sophisticated for that era.
It has a manuf. mark on it but I do not understand it. It's located to the left of the battery door and it's a black circle about 1/3" in diam. It looks a bit like the Mercedes emblem with E.T. G. O. on the bottem.
any idea what it's worth?

I'm looking to buy an NBC toy "remote" truck and camera/s for my ex husband. He was an emmy award winning cameraman, one of the first "ej" cameramen, and did many remotes through the 60's, 70's, and 80's. I saw one at a toy store 20 years ago and wish I'd bought it. Any ideas? I have no idea about how much they cost.
Thanks and referrals would be helpful. sandy | Oct 14, 08 | 1:47 am
