Model Diecast Bus Description, Bus Collector Value ($US) and Notes...

A 1960s General Motors Coach new look (a.k.a. Fishbowl) 5301 suburban in the Pennsylvania Railroad trim released by Corgi in 1996. Destination sign reads, "X - Pittsburgh."

This bus is interesting as I have never seen a suburban fishbowl without the roof mounted A/C unit, but having a rear exit door. Leave a comment below if you know if this type of bus actually existed.

This is # 1666 of 5,000 produced.

From the enclosed Corgi card...

GM 5301 - Pennsylvania Railroad
On April 13, 1846, Pennsylvania Railroad was chartered to build a railroad from Harrisburg to Philadelphia. By late 1852 the track ran on to Pittsburgh. By 1910, the Mighty Pennsy had expanded as far north as Rochester, Buffalo and Mackinaw City. Chicago and St. Louis in the west, and Louisville and Maryland in the south. The Penny road was heavily committed to commuter traffic in the north east, this vehicle represents part of their back-up system.

YOUR COMMENTS

The Eastern Mass Street Railway Company acquired about 50 of this type of bus in the early 1960's. Yes, without air conditioning.

Thanks for confirming that Bill. Hopefully I'll be able to see a picture of one of these someday.
