Corgi has finally immortalized the General Motors PD-4501 Greyhound Scenicruiser!!! Up until now the only person who probably ever had an accurate model of this bus was its legendary industrial designer, Raymond Lowey. This and the GM 4104 are the ones we model and toy bus collectors have been waiting for. One down, one to go.
The detailing and their accuracy are a joy to behold as Corgi saw fit to make the sliding side windows more of an oval as opposed to the earlier parallelogram shapes on the fishbowl series. This was a major pet peeve of mine and one that I'm happy to see has been addressed. The one thing I "believe" is not right is the amber striping as I thought this was actually gold(?). Can anyone confirm this?
The wait was worth it as Corgi has really turned out a great bus we collectors can be proud of owning. Get it quick as with most Corgi releases, it is strictly limited edition. This is one of only 3400 distributed worldwide. Interestingly, Corgi no longer tells you which number of the run you have.
From the Corgi card...

Posted by: Rufus E Perry | Nov 14, 06 | 6:36 amI'm a friend of Sally Maynard who is a friend of your Mother Judy. I did meet Judy. I have a collection of Greyhound toy busses and photos of them back to the 1930's. I have been a member of a Bus Society. I have a friend who has a HUGE collection of Greyhound material and has been a reviewer of Greyhound drivers (evaluating their performance). I have photos of his collection. I would like to meet you and discuss our interest in Greyhound.

Thanks for writing. Yes, my mother told me that she had met you recently and mentioned we should get together. I live in Maryland, but do travel up your way so we'll talk soon. All the best.
I have a new in the box Corgi Vintage Bus Lines, US54414 GM4501 Greyhound Scenicruiser (Destination Philadelphia). With Certificate of Authenticity attached in a plastic bag never opened. The side mirrors are still in the styrofoam separately. Instructions are with it. The top of the bus color is a deep blue, almost Navy. Would anyone like to buy this? I'm not sure I am allowed to do this but I just happened upon this site. If you are interested, contact me at Headers57@aol.com
Posted by: Headers57 | Jul 15, 08 | 6:52 pmI rode a Scenicruiser for the first time in April of 1956 when I moved to Los Angeles as a teen-ager. I rode them about ten times during my teens and early twenties when I was in the Army. Twice in my life I have helped push a stalled Scenicruiser. It takes lots of muscle from many guys. I now do YouTube videos. I would like to do a video about the Scenicruiser and Raymond Lowey. My YouTube name is Featureman.

I own a 1955 scenicruiser, I wanted a real one back when I was a kid and only had a toy cruiser.I'm currently repanting it back to Greyhound Super cruiser colors.Wish now I could find a corgi bus ,my bus was out of the Sanfrncisco depot which no longer is there, on Market St.When I'm done, I'm going to drive it there with friends to relive its old route
Cheers Joel DeGraef PD4501-467
Great bus and I'd like to see more about its history and if possible, about recent restoration of such a road beauty.
Also, where from one can find a scale model for my sons?
Thanks to everyone!

I use to work for greyhound at the Ventura,Calif depot, running the baggage out and eventually selling tickets and getting to call out the buses leaving to their destination, there was ahuge bus called the supercruiser which i fell in love with my bus would allow me to ride up Santa Barbara and back on these magnificent buses and they were smooth as ever, my family rode in the scenicruiser back in 1965 to Dallas Texas,my dad was in th army then anyhow they were beautiful buses the silver color and tinted windows were eye catchers. i would like to get a hold of similar model bus .
