Corgi has finally immortalized the General Motors PD-4501 Greyhound Scenicruiser coach!!! Actually, this is the third Scenicruiser in the series with this bearing the "New York" destination sign and including a multi-page reprint of the Scenicruiser promotional booklet with photos of the dual engines, exterior, interior and technical specs! The General Motors Greyhound Scenicruiser was designed by legendary industrial designer, Raymond Lowey.
The detailing and their accuracy are a joy to behold as Corgi saw fit to make the sliding side windows more of an oval as opposed to the earlier parallelogram shapes on the fishbowl series. This was a major pet peeve of mine and one that I'm happy to see has been addressed. The one thing I "believe" is not right is the amber striping as I thought this was actually gold(?). Can anyone confirm this?
The wait was worth it as Corgi has really turned out a great bus we collectors can be proud of owning. Get it quick as with most Corgi releases, it is strictly limited edition. This is one of only 2000 distributed worldwide. The two previous editions were over 3000 each.
From the Corgi card...
