A General Motors Coach old look 4502 in Public Service (New Jersey) trim released by Corgi in 199. Destination sign reads, "61 North Bergen via Bergenline Ave - Nongessers." The Nongessors is mispelled as it should have read Nungessers-an area that I know very well as I lived almost all my life in Hudson County in New Jersey.

This is # 2178 of 5,000 produced.

From the Corgi info card...

GM 4502 - Public Service

The giant Public Service of New Jersey has had many paint schemes in its history, but this must be by fat the most colorful.

My grand father owned and drove a gm bus on the hudson blvd. line., Im trying to purchase the bus in this picture because its the same type my grand dad drove, and my brother has worked for public service for 28 yrs., I recently gave him a cogi die cast public service twin boom tow truck and would love to give him this bus to tow. I grew up on 85th and 2nd avenue 2 blocks away from bergenline avenue. My grand dad's bus used to pull into Nungessers. tom mcgivney | May 19, 04 | 3:16 pm

Is the Public Service (NY), in red and cream livery, with the Public Service of New Jersey logo, and imaginary bus line? Philip Martin | Jun 21, 04 | 7:36 am

No, Public Service was a real bus line and is now known as New Jersey Transit. While they are best remembered for their gray and later green paint sheme, they briefly had the above cream and red colors. ToyBusExpo.com | Jul 01, 04 | 5:00 pm

Thanks for the info. I'm originally a New Yorker, and although I rode Public Service quite a lot, never saw the red-cream color scheme. I thaught Corgi had dreamed it up.
I know NJ Transit too. I've worked for it since 1983, when it went into the railroad buisness.
Question: was Public Service (New York) a real bus company? Philip Martin | Jul 01, 04 | 7:57 pm

General Comments:
Have always been a big time buff and follower of all vintage and present transportation buses. Was not aware that Public Service Coordinated Transport had the red and cream color scheme. They must of been out of the Hudson County (Jersey City) area, since I can't ever recall seeing them around in other areas of the state. Frank | Sep 16, 05 | 3:25 pm

Public Service was a New Jersey Bus company (that became NJ Transit) that had commuter routes that terminated in New York's Port Authority Bus Stations. They were never a New York bus company, and most of them could only pick up and drop off passengers ONLY in the terminals. Darryl Woodley | May 25, 06 | 8:58 am

The cream/red paint scheme seen here was used by the Philadelphia Transportation Co. (later SEPTA) Red Arrow Division (Delaware County/suburbs) during the fifties and sixties, on their old look GMs. Jeffrey A Schoen | Aug 23, 06 | 2:45 pm

The CORGI Classic Collection Vintage Bus General Motors 4502 - What were the years of production? Luigi Leone | Oct 15, 08 | 1:56 pm

The model looks good, but the Public Service NEVER had any paint schemes in red. My grandfather drove for PS for 31 years and took me on alot of runs with him during my summers off from school. He drove the old 68/120 Paterson,Hackensack-Lodi route.I still remember the Market street garage and the Blue Gooses,Green Hornets and Fishbowls that were inside and in the lot next to the garage.AAA! the good ole 60's Matt Walter | Aug 12, 10 | 7:57 pm
