Custom Model Bus Description, Bus Collector Value ($US) and Notes...

If you thought that the Corgi model diecast replica of Greyhound's famous Scenicruiser PD4501 was beautiful then feast your eyes on this hand made model from Russia.

Built to amazing accuracy by skilled old world craftsmen, The St. Petersburg team leaves nothing to chance o this model bus. Every small detail is captured as evidenced by the photos above. Even the interior seats on the 4501 are painstakingly made to look like the real thing. Model bus collectors can even customize coach numbers and destination signs.

This blue, white and gold trim paint scheme reflects Greyhound's change after the 1961-1962 rebuild, which saw the replacement of the twin engines with a single Detroit Diesel 8V-71.

Such attention to detail does carry a large price tag, but for the serious model bus collector there is no finer representation of this historic General Motors bus that changed the U.S. highway landscape in 1954.

YOUR COMMENTS

Unrelated to this particular model except for the GM product...St. Petersburg Tram is in the process of producing the beloved GM-TDH 5105 and 5106 in PTC colors! Save your pennies boys and girls...These incredible products come at an equally rich price...Other properties are also being offered. Wish I had enough to buy one...sigh...

This is the finest & most detailed model bus I've ever seen. I thought Corgi did a great job but those Russians hit a grand slam. I drove these buses for years and remember them fondly. I am going to buy this model. The Gold Stripe is correct in color & application. The reason for the Gold Stripe was to celebrate Greyhound's 50th anniversary in 1964. Bus #5542 was a Southern Greyhound Lines coach. 5542 was a 1956 PD-4501 V.I.N.# 895 of 1001 produced. S.G.L 5542 was also a celebrity; she was used on a 1962 Greyhound postcard and in a number of Greyhound print ads in the 1960's. I would like to see S.P.T.C. produce a G.M. PD4106 in Greyhound and Trailways versions and different paint schemes. I am available to assist in anyway possible. I am so very impressed with the detail of the interiors. They captured the seat fabric to a tee and the white hand rails.I hope they note in later models G.M. eliminated the sash in the door and driver's side window. One thing they forgot are the three Michigan marker lights above the destination sign.
